Hard to Read & Easy to Carry

I found this bestseller hard to read, hard to get interested in, hard to enjoy. Yet so many people loved it! What's wrong with me? My Significant Otter also lost interest in it after a few chapters. What's the deal? Then we tried to watch the movie. Zzzz. What's wrong with us?

I found the postcard in an antique store. The owner and I puzzled over it. Hard to read.
You can click on the postcard to make it easier to read.

This is all I can make out:

Sat. evening arrived safely about 7 o'clock after a lovely ride
we enjoyed the pageant. Saw Kate Felt & Mrs. Drew
and sister who sat behind us. Mrs. Felt had come over
from Brattleboro Vt. sunday 8 am sitting under some pines in -?-
now where Mr. Head is boarding. & We may stay to dinner.
-?-in Keene at The Cheshire.

So Very Portable

The Modern Library hardcovers. I collected them because they were small, sturdy, and unabridged. My Sig. Ott also collected them, so when we met we were very pleased to see we shared a fondness for these little books. They're roughly 5" x 7". We used to pick them up for a few dollars apiece, but now I see them going for ten or twenty sometimes.

Guess who also collects Modern Library editions (when they are not too much $$)??

There is a story in today's paper that black dogs at shelters are hard to place. Just putting it out there that black dogs as well as cats need good homes.

What's on the front of the card?

I 'd like a black dog.

The card front was Generic Scenic! the road to Troy, New Hampshire. A dirt road going through green with a Mountain in the background.

I didn't try reading the book, but found the film tedious. Wasn't kevin Spacey the central character? That may be part of it, although i like John Cusack.

The backwards slanting writing would be field day for a graphologist, I'm sure.

I remember a while ago seeing Bill Curtis on A&E(I think) doing a City Confidential show about the real Midnight In the Garden...
It was interesting. I have not read the book nor seen the movie.
Love the postcard!
Thanks for stopping by :)
